Franciscan Family Celebrates World Water Day
Directors and postulants of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Mary and the Conventual Provinces of St. Anthony and the Immaculate Conception joined FI’s New York office in the celebration of World Water Day. The Franciscan participants attended the FI Water Day event ‘H2 Uh O: The Rights and Wrongs of Water in Rio+20’ which was open to all members of the community, and also took part in several events and activities prepared for the Franciscan Family and other guests of FI.
The directors and postulants started their day with FI New York by joining in the staff Mass, followed by a tour of the United Nations. After the Water Day event, the directors and postulants were invited to a presentation about the work of FI; this presentation gave the postulants an opportunity to learn more about the realities faced by Franciscans at the grassroots and how FI supports their activities by representing the needs of the Franciscan family and the people with whom they work at the UN. The day concluded with a dinner with the FI New York Staff, guest speakers from the ‘H2 Uh-O’ World Water Day event, and students from Western Connecticut University.
