Faith in Action
Overall, the different entities of the Franciscan family can carry out the following activities:
- Preach on the theme of leadership for more knowledge-building on HIV and AIDS
- Place a tree in the public square of their village or town (such as a Christmas tree)
- Then, march down the roads of the villages or towns carrying lit candles, wearing t-shirts decorated with red ribbons
- Mobilise the staff and students of schools run by Franciscans
- Chant and recite, among others, the prayer of St. Francis (Let me be an instrument of your peace), adapted to the context of HIV and AIDS
- Finish the march to the foot of the tree
- Attach the red ribbons to the tree – inscribed on these ribbons should be the names of parents, friends, cousins, uncles, aunts who died of AIDS
- Invite passer bys to do the same
- Present your feedback and recommendations on the march to the local authorities (head of village, mayor, prefect) or national authorities (minister, governor).
