West Africa & Human Rights
Franciscans
International has started to monitor more closely the situation
in West African countries where there is a considerable presence
of Franciscan brothers and sisters working in schools, hospitals,
hosting centers with victims of labor exploitation, trafficking
or AIDS. We aim to concretely express our solidarity with
by offering them the opportunity to know more about international
mechanisms that can assist them in empowering the people they
serve.
Also, FI is particularly alarmed about the deterioration of the
situation in Togo and the dangers that Church leaders, journalists,
human rights defenders daily face and has, therefore, decided to
pay special attention to this country.
