The highest-level decision making body for international human
rights policy and practice, the Commission is a unique time for
Franciscan participation in the United Nations system, both in advocacy
and formation.

Advocacy
During the Commission, FI joins together with Franciscan brothers
and sisters from the developing world, to advocate for the rights
of the poor and marginalized in key areas of concern at the country
and thematic levels.

Formation
Franciscan brothers and sisters who participate in the Commission
not only provide first-hand testimony of human rights situations
in their countries, but also develop skills in international human
rights advocacy.
