“The escalating violence and continuing humanitarian crisis in Darfur is giving renewed urgency to international efforts to fulfill our responsibility to protect Darfurians from violence, displacement and human rights abuses. Darfur Week is the response of Franciscan colleges and universities to this urgent need for action. By participating in Darfur Week campus communities will refuse to ignore the crisis in Darfur and the failure of the international community to respond effectively, unite with Darfur advocates from Franciscan campuses across the country and act to use our collective voice to compel our leaders, and our own communities, to take all possible steps to resolve the crisis in Darfur.

Our responsibility to protect is now.
