Peacemaking

In the spirit of Saint Francis and Saint Clare, the peacemakers of Assisi, we seek always to facilitate peaceful solutions to situations of violence, conflict and war.

In our advocacy efforts at the United Nations, we call attention to conflict areas and ask that the United Nations takes action when appropriate to protect the lives of all of God’s people. We also monitor the disarmament process that occurs at the United Nations each fall and spring.

We encourage Franciscans to spread the message of peace in their own lives by celebrating the International Day of Peace.

Read on for more information on our advocacy efforts and learn how you might be involved.
