FI congratulates new leadership

Minister General since 2003, Br. José Rodriguez Carballo served the Order through several capacities: General Definitor and General Secretary for Formation and Studies; Minister Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Santiago de Compostela (Spain); President of the Union of Friars Minor in Europe and as Director of young religious in formation. 

FI would also like to congratulate Br. Mike Perry OFM who was recently elected the Vicar General of the worldwide Order of Friars Minor. Br. Mike was born in 1954, entered the Order in 1977, professed solemn vows in 1981, and was ordained a priest in 1982. He worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo as pastor, educator, and director of development projects for 10 years. From September 2005 to March 2007, Br. Mike worked at FI and it was during this time that he and Mr. Yao Agbetse, FI Africa Programme Coordinator, initiated the FI Africa Programme.

FI looks forward to continued collaboration with both Br. José and Br. Mike and the new Curia.

On a final note, FI would also like to congratulate Br. Elias Mallon SA, manager of the FI-NY office, who has been elected as the Second Councillor to the Leadership Team of the Atonement Friars at the chapter in Greymoor.
